Home Based Small Business

I was doing some work on a new project a little while ago and I found that in July (2005) over 4305 people searched the Internet for information on home based small business.

Personally I think that number is rather low and the statistics that I was looking at really don’t cover every search engine around the place. The interest in starting a home based small business is always very very high.

If you ever find your way to the small business boards that are out there you will find that people are always asking about home based business. Quite often they are looking for suggestions on what sort of work they can do from home.

And sadly, a lot of those people get taken for a ride. You will often see advertising offering people incredible incentives to work from home. You will probably see them on this site too because most of the advertising space is filled by Google and I only have limited control over what appears here.

But when you see those ads please proceed with extreme caution. Some of them are undoubtedly genuine but most are not. Telling the difference can be hard and my best advice to anyone who wants to start a home based small business is don’t!

Don’t do it unless you already have a product or service that you can sell to the market place. If you think that you can establish a successful home based small business by signing up for one of those schemes that you will find at the end of the links in their ads then you will be disappointed.

You will do your money cold and potentially damage other areas of your life as well.

So please, don’t rush into a home based small business unless you already have the product or the service to sell. I know that advice can be hard for people who dream of being their own boss and working from home. But it’s better to face reality now when it’s only a dream rather than face it when you have paid good money for nothing.
