No Room For 'Good' Excuses in Small Business

Well it's been over 24 hours since I last made a post here but I have a good excuse. The dog ate my homework.

Of course the fact that I don't own a dog shouldn't enter into it at all - why let the truth spoil a good story?

Actually the truth should always spoil a good story when it comes down to dealing with your clients and customers.

It's always so tempting to stretch the truth when you’re stuck in a position where you have to make excuses. Spin a good story and you can still come up looking good even if you've just made a monumental blunder.

And almost every time you do that your client or customer will see through your story. They might not challenge you over it but you will lose your credibility and lose their business.

Telling the truth may not save you from being embarrassed but your customers will appreciate your honesty and integrity.

And my excuse for no posts in 24 hours?

A very important deadline on Wednesday took a lot more time to meet than I expected and then an 800 km round trip to take Toni to see a specialist. Our clients and my family are - two things that are more important to me than a blog.
